Family were due back today following an earlier postponement due to the hurricane. Unfortunately it transpires that incompetence is not limited to Jamaica and the airline due to take them on their connecting flight to Gatwick had been parked at the wrong airport overnight. This “technical fault,” as the airline referred to it, meant they have missed their flight to Kingston and with the next flight not until Monday, this is going to be expensive.

Lady of Leisure work me with the news at 5am and I had managed to spend a grand before I even got out of bed, booking a hotel room online. More than the money, I am disappointed that I have another weekend alone. In general I can handle the time apart form the family because I can see the end of it and though there have bee a few wallows in self-pity, I am usually pretty stoic about it. This unplanned delay though has really deflated me.
I will have to make more inroads to the hurricane supply Red Stripe to help me through the next few days.
